Pro Parenting Tip #40: Choose Joy

Did you know that being joyful is a choice? 🤗

It's not something that just falls into our lap. It's something we seek out.

Unlike happiness that ebbs and flows, being joyful is a mindset.

It's intentional.

Being joyful doesn't mean that we ignore difficult situations and icky feelings.

It's not about pretending everything is hunky dory when it's clearly not.

It's saying, "no matter what life throws at me, no matter how crazy the world is around me, I am determined to find something to be grateful for."

🌤️ It's about appreciating a partially sunny day rather than bemoaning a partially cloud one.

When we invite joy into our own lives, it begins to grow and spread.

Joy is contagious.

Those around us--our families (even our teenagers), our friends, our neighbors, our co-workers--begin to choose joy too.

Imagine how beautiful the world would be if everyone chose joy.

So, today I challenge you to choose joy and get the ball rolling!

BOTTOM LINE

When you choose joy, it will spread to everyone around you -- even your surly teen.
