Meet Suzie Bartel
Suzie is the founder of the Ryan Bartel Foundation and mother of Ryan who died by suicide at age 17 in 2014. Driven by a desire to prevent other young people from spiraling into depression and suicidal behavior when life gets tough, what started as a peer-led support group at the high school Ryan attended, has grown into a non-profit whose teen and parent programs touch all corners of the Loudoun community. Suzie has won several awards for her community leadership and is an active advocate for youth mental health and suicide prevention through the empowerment of youth.
